The Nominating Committee has met, interviewed, and is recommending the following two nominee’s.

Yvonne Beattie, Community Member           1st 3-year term ending 2023

I am a long time resident of Spruce Grove and was always encouraged by my parents to volunteer in my community, and as such I have volunteered with many groups over the years, most of them youth focused.

My experience working with not-for-profit organizations has provided me with experience necessary to understand the business side as well as the operational side. While chairing the not-for-profit Panther’s Auxiliary, one of my major accomplishments outside of the management of term funds, was organizing, writing grants for and leading the fundraising for the high school gymnasium upgrade, raising the full $350,000 in two years.

As an active volunteer at PFD, I have an appreciation for what the organization strives to provide to its clients. Becoming a board member would allow me to be further involved in supporting the organization to provide the best client experience. Sadly, PFB is a necessity in my community and as such deserves all the support it can get.

I would like to see PFB continue to provide adequate resources to its clients to meet some of their basic needs. I would also like to explore the potential for an upgrade to the current facilities, or a potential move to a new facility that has more storage for hamper items and a better flow area for the clients.

Julie E. Adams, Community Member           1st 3-year term ending 2023

Now that I am retired I feel my work skills and community involvement over the years as a journalist/editor at local newspapers gives me some insight to the needs of local area, that will help in my role as a board member.

My main goal at this time is to give back, help out those in need in the community. During my career I worked with the business community and many non-profits often to help with fundraising and promoting their events.

At this time my skills – writer, graphic designer and knowledge in social media – may also help in my role as a member of the Parkland Food Bank board.
