Parkland Food Bank is Hiring SUMMER STUDENTS!

Parkland Food Bank is hiring outgoing, confident, and community-driven Summer Students to serve as ambassadors of our organization throughout the Tri-Municipal Region. These roles are highly public-facing and are ideal for individuals who are comfortable engaging with the public, leading events, and representing a well-established community organization.

Summer Students will play a key role in our outreach efforts and must be prepared to confidently share the mission, history, programs, and impact of Parkland Food Bank with community members, volunteers, donors, and corporate partners.

Position Details:

  • Number of Positions: 4
  • Paid Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Placement Length: 9 weeks within the months of June, July and August (must be available all summer)
  • Rate of Pay: $17.00/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate food drives at local grocery stores, serving as the primary Parkland Food Bank representatives onsite
  • Actively engage with the public by answering questions and explaining the mission and impact of Parkland Food Bank
  • Support and attend community events, presentations, and outreach initiatives on behalf of Parkland Food Bank
  • Assist with the 2026 Corporate Food Drive Challenge (and other events), including partner engagement and event support
  • Help maintain the community garden (watering, weeding, harvesting) as part of our food security initiatives
  • Provide general support across departments within the food bank, including volunteer engagement and warehouse operations

Expectations for Success:

  • Comfort and confidence leading events and speaking with the public, both one-on-one and in group settings
  • Willingness to immerse yourself in the history, programs, and impact of Parkland Food Bank, including retaining key facts and statistics to share accurately
  • Ability to represent the organization professionally, positively, and confidently at all times
  • Flexibility to work mornings, afternoon, evenings and weekends

Qualifications:

  • Strong passion for community service and food security
  • Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg and work outdoors in varying conditions
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Position Summary:

Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about making a difference in your community? Parkland Food Bank is seeking a Finance & Administration Coordinator to manage our day-to-day financial transactions, administrative operations, and provide executive support to our leadership team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable/receivable and reconcile bank & credit card statements
  • Maintain accurate donor records, issue charitable tax receipts, and support donor communications
  • Assist with payroll preparation, grant tracking, and audit readiness
  • Manage the Executive Director’s calendar and email coordination
  • Support the creation of policies, manuals, newsletters, and event materials
  • Provide backup support for volunteer scheduling and community event preparation
  • Other duties as required by the organization.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office Suite, and donor management systems
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Occupational Health & Safety Training (can be provided)

Compensation:

  • Annual Salary Range: $37,440 – $38,220.00
  • Average Weekly Hours: This position works approximately 30 hours per week. Primarily weekday hours with occasional evenings or weekends for events

Logistics and Facility Manager (Six-to-eight-month interim position)

Position Overview

Parkland Food Bank is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Logistics and Facility Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our warehouse and fleet over the next six to eight months. This role is crucial to ensure that our logistics operations run smoothly and efficiently, and that our team of staff and volunteers are well-supported and empowered to perform at their best.

As the Logistics and Facility Manager, you will play a key role in directing all warehouse activities, including production, receiving, storage, distribution, inventory control, and the sanitation and maintenance of our fleet and facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe and productive environment, where both paid staff and volunteers are trained, motivated, and aligned with our mission of making healthy food accessible to all.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership:

  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive team culture by encouraging open communication, mutual respect, and shared goals.
  • Oversee the scheduling, roles and responsibilities, and activities of department staff, ensuring that everyone is well-guided and supported.
  • Ensure that supervisors run their assignments effectively and in line with departmental objectives.
  • Offer performance management, coaching, mentoring, and training to support the growth and development of team members, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Administer disciplinary actions in accordance with established procedures, ensuring that all staff comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Communicating information from upper management to employees and vice versa.

Safety Leadership:

  • Champion a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring all safety standards, policies, and procedures are communicated, implemented, and adhered to.
  • Ensure that all department employees and volunteers maintain the necessary safety training required for their roles.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and daily walkthroughs to identify and address potential hazards.

Financial Management:

  • Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers and vendors.
  • Maintain records of merchandise ordered and received.
  • Oversee the purchasing of food, handling of inventory, and procurement of warehouse supplies, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to establish the annual budget and identify areas for operational efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Manage the day-to-day financial aspects of warehouse and fleet operations, including planning, reporting, and managing assets and facilities requirements.
  • Oversee the annual budget or capital investment plan related to warehousing functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Operational Management:

  • Review and analyze monthly metrics related to client usage, donations, and projected needs, collaborating closely with warehouse and fleet employees to make data-driven decisions.
  • Work closely with Volunteer and Client Services departments to ensure seamless collaboration and efficient operations.
  • Evaluate and improve warehouse processes, optimize workflows and delegating assignments to ensure strategic goals are met efficiently.
  • Forecast requirements, prepare budgets, and schedule expenditures to meet warehouse and fleet operational goals.
  • Plan and optimize warehouse layout and space requirements to prevent loss or damage and achieve full warehouse utilization.
  • Regularly inspect equipment, tools, and machinery, and oversee general maintenance as needed.
  • Provide timely support to businesses and organizations organizing food drives for PFB, ensuring adherence to the fleet schedule.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1-4 years of experience in a lead, supervisor, or manager role within operations required.
  • 1-2 years of logistics industry experience preferred.
  • Proven competence with planning and budgeting.
  • Knowledgeable in business processes and activities (finance, HR, procurement, operations, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Office applications and related software.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, coach, and provide training to both staff and volunteers.
  • Strong team player with exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
  • Required to lift heavy objects.
  • May require overtime or working long hours.
  • A deep passion for community service and a commitment to making healthy food accessible to all.

Working Hours:

  • The Logistics and Facility Manager will work five days per week, alternating between Monday – Friday and Tuesday – Saturday.
  • Typical work hours are:
    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    • Wednesdays (varies): 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM OR 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
    • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
